Tatyana Ali's Biography:

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Tatyana Ali is best recognized by television audiences as Ashley, the youngest child in the Banks household on NBC’s hit comedy “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.” She was twice nominated for the NAACP Image Award for 1993 and 1994 and won the award in 1995 for Outstanding Youth Actor. In addition, she received the 1995 Hollywood Reporter Young Star Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.

A Harvard University graduate, majoring in political science and Afro-American Studies, Tatyana can be seen in Jerry Bruckheimer’s and Disney Pictures’ “Glory Road” opposite Derek Luke. The film is set in the 1960s and centers around the 1966 NCAA championships and the first all-African American college basketball team to compete and win that historic game. Tatyana can also be seen in upcoming flics, “ImPerfect”, starring Wayne Brady about a heartbroken man who can’t find love, and “Nora’s Hair Salon II: Back on Track” which she also co-produced, co-starring Mekhi Pfeifer and Stacey Dash. She has just completed filming “Hotel California” and “Privileged”, with anticipated release dates in the upcoming year.

Her career spans over 20 years, with numerous stage, television and film credits. She landed a regular role on Public Television’s “Sesame Street” at the age of four. During her 5-year stint on “Sesame Street,” Tatyana won a starring role on Broadway in the Pulitzer Prize-winning “Fences” with James Earl Jones and later Billie Dee Williams. With rave reviews to her credit, she won the attention of Eddie Murphy and was cast as his sister in the 1987 motion picture Eddie Murphy’s “Raw.”

She has appeared in Paramount’s “Kiss the Girls” starring Morgan Freeman, Sony Picture’s “The Brothers”, and Takeshi Kitano’s “Brother”, a Sony Picture’s Classic. Tatyana began putting her vocal talents to work at 7 years of age and twice captured the junior vocalist competition on “Star Search.” This attention earned her a role in the NBC television pilot “Wally and the Valentines”, starring singers Tevin Campbell, Siedah Garret and En Vogue’s Cindy Heron. She recorded a gold album in 1998, “Kiss the Sky,” which featured the hit single “Daydreamin’, touring both in Europe and the United States with N’Sync, Monica, and The Backstreet Boys. She can currently be seen on the Fox Series "On The Lot". She is writing and recording her second album independently, in Los Angeles.
